Year 10 experience Spanish culture in trip to Madrid
Earlier this year, our Year 10 Spanish students set off on a cultural journey to Madrid, the heart of Spain.
This three-day trip was organised to enrich their understanding of the language through experiencing authentic Spanish culture for themselves.
Their first full day in the capital city began with a visit to the Museo del Prado, a national art museum home to some of the world’s most renowned masterpieces.
As they wandered through the halls, the students took in the beauty of the artworks and learned about the history of art in Spain.
The day continued at the El Retiro Park, one of the largest city parks in Madrid. Students strolled along the scenic pathways and admired the gardens.
In the evening, the group got a true taste of Spain as they dined at a traditional tapas restaurant and watched a Flamenco show!
Day two began with a sightseeing tour of the iconic Plaza Mayor, the Royal Palace of Madrid, and the Almudena Cathedral.
This offered students a glimpse into the royal past and the rich culture of Madrid.
Students spent time in the afternoon shopping and indulging in some delicious Churros con chocolate!
As the day drew to a close, the group ventured to a local restaurant to try out a classic Spanish Paella, which went down a treat!
Year 10’s trip to Madrid was a memorable experience and a great chance for students to live the language that they have been studying.
